The delicate & subtle nature of this Blue hydrangea called for using watercolour as it was the most suitable medium for what I wanted to create. I wanted to see if I could generate an ethereal look with a very soft quality and feelings. As watercolour can act very finicky I had an extremely cautious approach to each brushstroke. Personally, my favourite part of this whole process was the very ending - getting to add touches of white paint onto areas that needed highlighting.
A watercolour painting created in the deep Winnipeg winter (2018).
